Territorial local authorities, such as city, district and regional councils, play an important role in creating healthy and safe communities. Not only should they put sun safety policies and practices in place for their staff in their workplaces, but also at the events they support and run in their communities. The HSC and the Cancer Society of New Zealand are currently working with councils to help them achieve this goal.
HSC has developed a resource - SunSmart Councils – A Guide for Territorial Local Authorities and Health Promoters– to make it easier for councils to put SunSmart policies in place within their organisations. The HSC is more than happy to help you set up policies within your organisation, and at supported events.
